Rishi Kapoor and Neetu Kapoor played a middle-class couple in the 2010 film Do Dooni Chaar. Filmmaker Habib Faisal who directed the film said that he had the rare honour of directing Rishi Kapoor for his debut film. Rishi Kapoor breathed his last on Thursday after a two-year-long battle with leukaemia.
Do Dooni Chaar is the story of a middle-class family of four who aspires to buy their own car. The movie was made on a small budget but was very much loved by the audience and the critics. It also won the Best Hindi Feature Film at the 58th National Film Awards.
Talking to a news agency, Faisal said that Rishi Kapoor was pushing him to write a sequel to the film as the actor believed that stories of middle-class India should be told more frequently.
Faisal said that he would often message Rishi Kapoor when he was undergoing treatment. The 102 Not Out actor would tell Faisal that he will be fine very soon and that he should write the sequel of Do Dooni Chaar. The director said that Kapoor always loved to play roles that challenged him as an actor.
Talking about Rishi Kapoor and Neetu Kapoor, he said that the actor-couple starred alongside many newcomers in the movie and never made anybody feel that there is a star on the set.
Faisal said that while they were shooting in Delhi, Kapoor made friends with people living in the colony and almost every day somebody would invite them for some kind of Delhi food.
