“My quest in life, as a producer, is to influx Hollywood with brown people” – Priyanka Chopra on co-producing Evil Eye for Amazon Prime Video

Priyanka Chopra and Blumhouse Productions have come together for an intriguing horror-thriller, Evil Eye starring Sarita Choudhury, Sunita Mani, Omar Maskati, and Bernard White. The trailer was unveiled on September 16, 2020.

Priyanka is serving as the executive producer of the film which will arrive on Amazon Prime Video. The film follows the story of a mother who is convinced that her daughter’s boyfriend of reincarnation of a person from her past. It is a mother-daughter relationship in the horror-thriller genre. Speaking of the film, Priyanka was intrigued to bring this story to the spotlight. “It compelled me so much because of multiple reasons, [including] having two really strong female parts," she recently told Entertainment Tonight. "I have a very, very tight relationship with my mother, and I love that mother-daughter relationship."

This has also been an opportunity for her to introduce diverse actors in Hollywood. “My quest in life, as a producer, is to influx Hollywood with brown people, because we don't see enough of us," Priynka told ET.  "And to be able to do an all South Asian cast in a movie with Amazon and Blumhouse -- who are both powerhouses -- was a dream come true for me."

"I want to demand leading parts for people who are like me. I want to have girls that look like me...  start to be on the poster of a movie," she further said. "It's my greatest joy and honor to be able to create opportunities where I didn't have them."

Based off the award-winning, best-selling Audible Original production from writer Madhuri Shekar, Evil Eye is directed by Elan Dassani and Rajeev Dassani, and stars Sarita Choudhury (Mississippi Masala, Lady in the Water), Sunita Mani (GLOW), Omar Maskati (Unbelievable), and Bernard White (Silicon Valley).
