12 Years of Kaminey: Shahid Kapoor celebrates bad guy Charlie saying 'sweet, good guy' image was 'Rubbish'
Shahid Kapoor celebrated 12 years of Kaminey, by sharing artworks of his character from the movie on his social media account. He recalled how the film helped him in shifting the way he was perceived as an actor.
Shahid Kapoor's Kaminey released in year 2009, co-starring Priyanka Chopra, and was directed by Vishal Bhardwaj. Shahid shared an illustration of his character on his Instagram stories writing," 12 years ago the film allowed me to express myself as an actor. Not a face... not that cute boy next door... not that done to death 'I'm such a sweet guy good guy please like me' - rubbish. My first double role. My first shot at a ‘kamina’ no holds barred. A straight out performing part. This was when it all started. So this one will always be special."
According to Shahid, the film was very important, as it helped him mark major shift in the kind of roles he used to pick and would pick later in his career. Being the ex-sweet good guy of Bollywood, Shahid has now shifted to intense and complex roles in films like Haider, Udta Punjab and the most recent, Kabir Singh.
On the work front, Shahid is yet to make his digital debut. In an Instagram live in June, the actor expressed his nervousness about working on a digital platform. Shahid will make his debut on OTT with a series directed by The Family Man duo Raj and DK. He shared his feelings and thoughts of his debut. As per him, the success in movies does not guarantee acceptance on digital platform, he adds, “I’m very nervous about making my digital debut because I really feel that actors who might have been liked and loved on the big screen, might or might not be appreciated on a digital platform. You can't just be okay if people like you for a couple of hours. They need to be interested in your character, connect with you and you need to hold their attention for 9-10 episodes. I don't think I'm experienced in that space. So it would be interesting to see how people react to me on that platform."
Meanwhile, 40-year old actor awaits the release of his film, Jersey, which is a Hindi remake of Telugu film of same name, which originally started Nani. The story revolves around a former cricketer trying to make a comeback into cricket, to earn a jersey, his son desires. After Kabir Singh, which was also a remake of Telugu blockbuster, Jersey will be Shahid Kapoor's second Telugu to Hindi remake film.
